23 March Leeds & Liverpool canal canter 10K Race Full As the name suggests this is an out and back canter on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. The route will start and finish at Kirkstall about 2.5 miles outside the centre of Leeds. Details

31 March ELvington 5 Mile Flier (York) Race Full The sell out Elvington Flyer is returning for a second year.  The event takes place at Elvington Airfield actually on the runway itself. Details
6 April The Gloworm Neon night 5K & 10K (Sheffield) Bright lights! Big City! Sheffield’s ANNUAL spectacular neon night race – full of atmosphere and fabulous neon lights. 7 April  Race the Castle 10k (Lancaster) The Race to the Castle 10K is a new race which will see runners charging to the Lancaster Castle completing a loop around the battlements before heading for home Details of this and other in the series
7 April Glenlivet 10K Therace route is set in the  Cairngorms National Park. Billed as ‘the most beautiful run in Scotland’ the race route takes runners around the beautiful scenery of Glenlivet. Details
7 April Lincoln 10K The route is flat and fast, so perfect of a PB, Starting at Yarborough Leisure Centre, the course goes some of the city’s historic landmarks, including the Lincoln Cathedral, University Campus and Roman Walls. Eventually finishing at the towering Cathedral. Details
7 April Hamsterley 10K The Hamsterley 10K leads runners from gentle forest paths to forest trails that will test endurance levels. Details
10th April The Rocket 5K Darlington The trail is open to any level of ability from a club runner to a recreation runner. This route offers a mix of terrain from tarmac to woodland. It is mainly flat and fast but with a few cheeky inclines. Details

13 April Cragside 10K Run Northumberlands most popular 10k race takes place once again at the National Trust venue. The course includes a 4km climb from 3.7km to 7.7km (climbing almost 100m) then coming back down to the finish outside the visitor centre Details
13 April Hawkshead 10K Trail The routes take in the infamous, mile long, near vertical, killer climb of the “Coffin Trail”! Underfoot conditions are generally good, particularly for those used to off-road running. Details

28 April Washington Trail 10K Race Full Washington Trail 10k winds its way around the James Steel Park and follows woodland trails along the banks of the River Wear Details and Entry
4 May Staveley5K and 10K Trail The trail climbs out from Staveley above the Kentmere valley, before returning along the valley and through ancient woodland, then  climbing Reston Scar before the descent back into Staveley village. Details
5 May Kirbymoorside 10K The race is based right in the centre of Kirkbymoorside, starting and finishing in the same location. The finish is a wonderful downhill stretch along the High Street and spectators line the street and encourage finishers all the way to the end. Details
5 May Gear 10K (Kings Lynn) The Grand East Anglia Run (GEAR) 10K, always attracts a capacity entry.  It follows a scenic route that features the town centre, River Ouse pathway and many Walks and impressive landmarks including the Custom House, Red Mount and Greyfriars Tower. Details
11 May Brecon Beacon 10K Challenge At £30 entry not one of the cheapest Trail 10Ks but it does have a good reputation Details
11 May Kirklees 10K (huddersfield) Circular course starting and finishing at Cathedral House, following the canal towpath from the end of St. Thomas Road to Linthwaite and back. Details
12 May Raby Castle 10K Hosted by Teesdale Athletic Club takes place in the Grounds of Raby Castle.  Not much information on this one Details

19 May Great Manchester 10K With an entry fee of £38 it’s a bit too rich for many, on the plus side the race is along closed roads and does have a great atmosphere. Details
19 May Fountains 10K The Fountains 10K is a great event for runners of all abilities starting from the village of Grantley, near Ripon. It’s an undulating route that takes in quiet country roads, off-road trails and scenic moorland within Nidderdale. This race is also excellent value check it out Details

26 May Humber Bridge 10K The Humber Bridge 10K road race is organized by the City of Hull Athletic Club, which starts from Hessle Rugby Club on the north bank of the Humber estuary, proceeds through the streets for almost 2 km before joining the East pathway of the Humber Bridge. After reaching the far end at Barton, the route then switches to the West pathway for the return leg, and retraces the road route back, to finish at the rugby club. Details

2 June 10K mini Marathon
Starting and finishing at Coniston Hall Landing Point, on the shores of Coniston Water the phrase Mini marathon seems like marketing spin by Lakeland Trails for this one.  It takes place at the time and place of their Marathon and 1/2 Marathon hence the term mini Marathon nevertheless the10K is a good route even if the term Marathon linked to it is dubious

30 June Run Northumbria Coquet 10K
Taking place on the same day as the Coquet half marathon and will finish at the Riverside Park with the half marathon finishers. The route is an out and back flat and fast course – jusing the last 5km of the half marathon route. The finish is the same as the half marathon

The route rises from 218 mtrs at start to 286 mtrs at 3k,then 142 mtrs at 8k then back to 218 mtrs at the finish.
Lidget Street is closed to traffic for start and finish.

28 July Redcar 5k & 10k road race This is a new event on a flat fully closed road circuit in Redcar Town Centre. It will follow the thrilling Redcar Triathlon which will take place earlier in the day. The circuit that will be used is the same 5k circuit as  used for the triathlon bike section taking in The Esplanade, The Crescent and a circuit of the Redcar Cricket ground. Details
28 July Run Yorkshire Ryedale 10K and 5K This race starts and finishes at Ampleforth College and uses roads and tracks within the estate, lending itself to a great traffic free route for runners. The 10k is 1 lap of the estate Details

17 August Run Durham Dalton Park 10K and 5K Starting in the Dalton Park Shopping Outlet, this fast 10km route uses the Shopping Outlet and a disused road with a small climb at 1.5k and a 1.5mile trail path. Details
18 August Branches and Bay 10K The route takes you through the Durham Wildlife Trust and National Trust managed woodland of Hawthorn Dene. Then the running of the Bays of Hawthorn Hive and The Blast Beach. Finishers get a medal and choice of Buff or Mug Details

1 Sept. Wetherby 10K A fast, flat scenic route with 1,000 runners. The race is Gold-Graded by the British Association of Road Race and was the BARR National WInner of the Bill Reynolds Memorial Trophy 2014. The Wetherby Mini-Marathon (entry on the day only) is held alongside the 10K. Celebrate ‘A Cracking little Yorkshire run’ with the commemorative mug for all finishers. Details

Runners will take a city centre route, starting in Arundel Gate, and  on along Charter Row then along Ecclesall Road, before skirting the edges of Endcliffe Park.it then continues along Riverdale Road, along Endcliffe Vale Road, close to the Botanical Gardens, then travels down Brocco Bank and back to the city centre finish.
